Dutch holidays

The Dutch don't do Halloween.

We stayed in and ate loads of sweets and watched scary movies and wore orange and black.

They also don't celebrate Thanksgiving, for obvious reasons.

Santa Claus comes on December 5, but Christmas starts the 25th and lasts two days. Also, Santa here has slaves and delivers presents in people's shoes.

New Year's is on schedule, but Valentine's Day is ignored and actively disdained.

They don't have any real holidays until Queen's Day (where everyone gets stoned and drunk and wears copious amounts of orange) in April. And it's celebrated on the late Queen's birthday (The Queen is dead! Long live the Queen!), not the current one's.

There really is no logic, is there?
