Thanksgiving

Yesterday at the school the director asked me to tell her two classes (morning and afternoon) the Thanksgiving story.

"The truth?" I asked her.

She laughed. "Yes, always the truth."

So I told them about how the pilgrims stole America. I even threw in the bit about Jeffrey Amherst and his scarlet fever blankets.

"And that, kids, is why we gorge ourselves on turkey."

They thought it was the coolest thing they had ever heard.

And then they pelted the two "colonists" (volunteers from my audience) with crayons.
